MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY E7A
Only 50 years young, Macquarie University has risen to be a progressive and influential institution locally and internationally. When the property team was tasked with defining a property master plan, their international search brought them to TFC and its state of the art Life Cycle software platform.
INVOLVEMENT AND OUTCOME
TFC undertook life cycle and ecological footprint modelling of the 2030 property master plan (including the as-built measure of 35 existing buildings) and defined a sustainable development (one planet) brief designed to deliver a 48% increase in environmental efficiency and a one planet outcome by 2030.
E7A was the first of more than a dozen major developments. The ability to define the embodied carbon and planet brief of an adaptive reuse strategy over a knock down, rebuild aligned with the project cost and time constraints to demonstrate the real triple bottom line of the life cycle approach.
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
E7A is an outstanding example of sustainability outcomes using LCA as a guiding tool. It has been validated with an ecological impact of 0.9 planet equivalent which is sustainable and beneficial.
