ANU Union Court
Ranked first in Australia and 20th in the world, the Australian National University (ANU) is at the forefront of research and learning leadership. The aspiration of the Union Court Re-development is to achieve consistency with this leadership, meeting the challenges of the future by targeting a sustainability performance consistent with the ecological limits of the planet. The project consists of a new mixed-use living, teaching, learning leisure and retail precinct. The use of Ecological Footprint and the One Planet concept assists project stakeholders to gain an appreciation of how sustainable the project will be.
TFC’s sustainable design expertise has guided the masterplan development with a focus on maximising passive design values and minimising resource use. TFC’s online life cycle precinct software was used to model development scenarios to achieve design parameters to meet the One Planet performance goals and TFC continue to support the development management team in aspects of sustainability performance for built form, leasing, tenancy design, place making and operations. TFC’s life cycle assessment software is being used by Lend Lease to develop the building level construction response to meet the one planet and embodied carbon performance targets set in the development brief.
